After responding to a question from Bill, he suggested I provide the following info to the group in case anyone else had any of the Accurail cars produced a while back. I have a couple in my "box collection", so I hadn't reviewed the assembly instructions until Bill pointed out a possible error. Indeed, there are several in the hitch position diagrams. In all 89'4" TOFC/All-Purpose cars, the longer (45') trailer is always on the B end (ie the end with the brake apparatus). The B end hitch is placed so that the trailer kingpin is 60" from the end of deck. The A end hitch is 46' from the other, placing the kingpin 38'4" from end of car. The hitch locations are more or less correct on the Walthers TOFC cars; however they are a scale 6" too high. In the re-released Athearn cars, the hitches are too far "forward", especially the A hitch which should be 12" closer to the A end.
