You are right in correcting me. The train is on what was the former w/bound main. My fingers didn't type what I was thinking. Ed, that's a very good question, but are you sure about the train being on the EB main (which would make this a WB train)? Is that not MT Tammany in the background, which would make ths an EB train on the WB main? In any event, assuming the photo caption is correct, there must have been a short segment of double track or siding retained after the single-tracking of the late 50's and removed early in the EL years. This was discussed in depth here last year but I don't recall the specifics. Paul B From: Dlw1el2_@_aol.com Subject: Re: (erielack) Turning the calendar... In a message dated 10/2/2007 8:21:50 P.M. It was taken after the cut-off was single tracked but there appears to be two tracks through the Gap. Was one a siding at this time? The TM's are running on the former e/bound main. By the time the early 60s had come, the line was single tracked all the way to Bell's Bridge. Ed I don't have the photo in front of me,but from memory of having looked briefly at the calendar a year ago, the train is in the area of the siding need Slateford. It extended from a mile or so inside NJ west to Slateford Jct.
