Ed, that's a very good question, but are you sure about the train being on 
the EB main (which would make this a WB train)? Is that not MT Tammany in 
the background, which would make ths an EB train on the WB main? In any 
event, assuming the photo caption is correct, there must have been a short 
segment of double track or siding retained after the single-tracking of the 
late 50's and removed early in the EL years. This was discussed in depth 
here last year but I don't recall the specifics.

I don't have the photo in front of me,but from memory of having looked
briefly at the calendar a year ago, the train is in the area of the siding 
need
Slateford.  It extended from a mile or so inside NJ west to Slateford  Jct.
