Paul: Concerning Ron's Books, can you provide me an address? phone number? Do they have a Web Site John in Virginia - -----Original Message----- From: Paul R. Tupaczewski [mailto:paultup_@_comcast.net] Sent: Friday, September 07, 2007 4:50 PM To: 'EL Mail List' Subject: (erielack) New DL&W book I stopped by my local hobby shop today and was surprised to find a new softcover book sitting in the book rack: "The Legendary Lackawanna - A Belated Tribute to the Route of Phoebe Snow", by John R. Canfield. It was only $12 so I picked up a copy. The book is heavy on text and stories, a nice thing. It has a decent selection of B&W images, but the halftone work on them is only "OK" - a lower-density screen was used and so the quality is roughly equivalent to a newspaper. The real value of this book is not in the photos, but in the great stories Mr. Canfield shares, and details of operational changes and interlocking plants. At $12, it's a steal for that! The book is self-published, but I checked and Ron's Books does carry it - - Jay Held, is the ELHS carrying this book as well? - Paul The Erie Lackawanna Mailing List Sponsored by the ELH&TS http://www.elhts.org To Unsubscribe: http://lists.elhts.org/erielackunsub.html The Erie Lackawanna Mailing List Sponsored by the ELH&TS http://www.elhts.org To Unsubscribe: http://lists.elhts.org/erielackunsub.html ------------------------------
