Model Railroader has a new booklet just out on freight yard operations. In the first article the guy numbers his towns, 100, 200, 300 etc. and the industries/customers in those towns as 101, 102, 103 etc. Those numbers are then put on the waybill for each car, and if the train is then ordered numerically by the yard crew, it's optimally arranged for deliveries along the route. Anyway it got me thinking if there has ever been any posts concerning classification or operating procedures of the DL&W for its freight yards. I did a brief search of the mail archives and didn't find much. Also noticed in the DL&W employee timetable the Morris and Essex division has station numbers while the Scranton Division does not. They all do in a later EL timetable. thanks, Frank Colorado Springs, CO ELHS #2116 ELH&TS #52 The Erie Lackawanna Mailing List Sponsored by the ELH&TS http://www.elhts.org To Unsubscribe: http://lists.elhts.org/erielackunsub.html ------------------------------
