Not to doubt Bob, he knows his stuff but I read here:

That the Drakesville train station was several hundred feet west of the
Howard Bvld crossing. I'm sure Bob is right though.

Mike
Drakesville station which was the name of the original station in that area
became a personal residence, and I suspect was moved off the right of way.
My oldest maps show it down in the hollow, just west of the stump grinding
facility that is located west of Howard Blvd and on the south side of the tracks
by about a big quarter mile. Not sure of its original location. If it was
where Mt Arlington was built it had to be moved across the tracks and west a
quarter of a mile. Not a small task before the turn of the century when horse
and mule power prevailed. Possible it was disassembled and then
reassembled? I've walked the area where it shows on the maps, and there is absolutely
nothing there but woods today.

Speaking of that area, Does anyone have any pictures of the original
overpass for Howard Bvld they could post? My father tells me it was very old
and narrow. I believe it was replaced when I 80 was built.

The original stone underpass was simple filled in. Its still there just
buried.

Also, I asked this once before years ago, Did the DLnW serve a quarry or
open pit mine just east of the new station? There is a dark cinder path
leading off of into the woods between the main and Rt. 80 that goes into a
open pit. If this link works, the new station area should be in the left
lower center, The cinder path I'm talking about is near the upper right,
under the buttons that say "traffic", "map" and "satellite"

I've looked at that obvious right of way for years. It doesn't show on any
of my maps either, but is obviously to something that Rt 80 completely
obliterated. IT was probable short lived and thus you need a map for a very
specific time. Pre 1900 I'm sure.

Thanks,
Mike D.
