One of the better efforts photographically, but I'm not sure this applies to the caption. The GP7's are divisional power on what looks like possibly TC-1, since there are some hy-cubes back in the consist; heavier power will probably take over at Port Jervis. There was a High-Iron trip with the 759 in mid-August, 1971; was there also one in July? The caption says "After waiting in the hole for a passenger train at Tuxedo, NY to take on patrons..." Was there a westbound passing siding at Tuxedo? It seems an unlikely location, only 5 miles west of quadruple track at Suffern. Also, was there a weekend westbound commuter train through here in late morning? Splitting hairs, perhaps, but the caption appears to be a wee bit embellished. Paul B From: "Tupaczewski, Paul R \(Paul\)" <paultup_@_alcatel-lucent.com> Subject: (erielack) Flipping the calendar.... August is almost here, so let's flip the EL calendar.... The August calendar image has a bold, low angle view of a quartet of EL GP7s in July of 1971. Of note is the second Geep, which I think was the last-left-in-Erie-paint #1231. Also of interest is the lead unit, former Erie 1403, a passenger Geep now displaced by the influx of U34CH diesels in New Jersey. The exhaust cloud put out by these is impressive, and shows hard acceleration! The main looks to be in pretty good shape, and virtually everything in this image portrays a bold, strong EL. - - Paul The Erie Lackawanna Mailing List Sponsored by the ELH&TS http://www.elhts.org To Unsubscribe: http://lists.elhts.org/erielackunsub.html ------------------------------
