RE: (erielack) "E-L Caboose"



It has faded a bit since I last saw it in 2003, but that's probably a
good thing.  Now, can someone tell me what type of caboose this is?  I
don't know much about freight car classes, sorry.

It is EL C347. The car was repainted by CSX crews in time for the ELHS
convention in Marion in 2001. Here's a shot from George Elwood's site
when it was painted:

Yes, the typeface is wrong and the color red is off, but it's the
thought that counts! It ran around with its EL number for a few weeks
before it reverted to its former ex-CR number with NYC reporting
marks.
It's still used on locals based out of Marion (where the photo was
taken, so it still works on EL lines!)

Looks like the paint is weathering up a bit in 6 years....
