RE: (erielack) JULY CALENDAR PICTURE



I hadn't given the ROW much thought.  It might be because the whole railroad seemed to look like that back then.  The passenger rolling stock was maintained and kept clean.  The E's and some of the PA's were repainted but by-in-large, the E-L didn't have any money and was getting close to not meeting payroll.  This was just before William White and Gregory Maxwell began implementing changes in management.  I don't think the 424's were on the property yet -- they may have just arrived.

The one thing that really got to me about this photo is the relative
lack-of-maintenance on the ROW here. It strikes me as a melancholy photo...
