Thank you, Mike and John, for the computer color data and the paint data. I hope some of that can translate to model paints of all kinds. It is most informative. I am away from home and from my files and notes, so I have to wing it on a couple relevant questions/issues. Randy, a couple weeks ago you threw out a quick question, something like, "what about Erie gray-green". The question went unresponded to but it stayed with me. When I was recently doing that little bit of research with the NY&GL Ry re Erie yellow in response to an inquiry from Schuyler, John Bezuyen mentioned to me that, when he had been looking over official Pullman records, the Erie through-line TTG was listed as Northern Pacific Lt and Dark Greens. Now I have heard it vehemently denied that NP colors were the base for Erie TTG, but John saw it as such in print (which says nothing still about what paint was actually applied). I know that any Erie light gray-green was certainly not the light green of the Raymond Loewy North Coast Limited: that light green was too saturated and too green to be the Erie's. But the NP did have a TTG passenger scheme before the Loewy one, although this is rarely seen in color photos, as Loewy's was the popularized color dressing. Who know? That TTG light color is a bit of a mystery and is portrayed differently. I have models where it is definitely a light GREEN and others where it looks more like a greenish GRAY. The color is variously described as light green or gray-green, depending on the eyeball. I have a ConCor baggage car from 20 (?) years ago that has the TTG down pretty well -- but the package refers to Erie Dark Green and "CREAM". Another totally open-ended question/issue for this Brain Trust -- while we navigate the fascinating world of color perception -- relates to the green of Erie Stillwells. I personally lay no claims whatever to knowing what that was officially, although over the years I have heard Pullman Green (PG) put forth as the color. Memory plays tricks -- but nonetheless I do not remember them as PG, but more as a somewhat warmer green with a ruddy and also olive tinge that direct sunlight would seem to accentuate. But maybe that was also road dust. Anyway, in model paints, I have found that a mix of 4 pts Pullman Green with 1 pt Boxcar Red (I think that was the red I used; like I said, I am away from my files) yielded a Stillwell color that made them look right (to me): still green but with that warm side.
