The use of the "Z" in rep marks began in the mid-60's. I'm not sure exactly what year but it certainly post-dated the DL&W. The 724 has the right-side door, looking at the new pics.

Since it was sold/whitelined in '65 as #724 , does that mean the use of
'Z' reporting marks didn't start until after that?
