Bill, Just to let u know..........there used to be an identical caboose to the one in ur foto on the former EL/DL&Ws Utica line. Just prior (south) to the city of Utica, the DL&W crossed the former West Shore line of the NYC. A mile or so before this crossing sat an old NYC caboose on the west side of the DL tracks. Looking at the caboose again, I'm reminded of the caboose on my first Lionel trainset (1940) which had a long carbody with a short (in height) cupola at the far end like the one pictured. I've emailed guys on the ELHS website but nobody seems to know what happened to this old caboose or why it was there in the late 60s.
