I found myself looking for a distraction yesterday on the way back to Reading, PA yesterday, so I took the slow route between Great Bend and Clarks Summit and followed the DL&W. South of Hallstead, there are two diverging routes. One to the east, in use, one west, unused in years. They join again in New Milford. Why the deviation? When was the western route lifted? Looked at the new siding, wonderful to see- looks like two or three miles. The smell of creosote is wonderful! I couldn't figure out how to get to the north switch is inaccessible, there was MOW present anyways. I poked around the southern end, new turnout built on site. I thought the switch would be a right hand, but it's a left hand. The new track, to the east, will it become the new main?
