I just got my new issue of "Weird NJ" magazine in yesterday's mail and was quite surprised to find >> 7 <<< pages dedicated to railroad topics, with the vast majority covering EL-related stuff! Page 33 features an article about the Erie freight tunnel between West End and Jersey City (still used today by NS) Page 34 features the Roseville Tunnel, with an inset photo of an EL E8 roaring through it Page 35 details the "Fairview Tunnel" (as they call it, in reality it's the Edgewater Tunnel of the NYS&W) Page 36 has a feature called "The Trilogy of the Erie-Lackawanna Bridges", about the Hainesburg Viaduct and the Delaware River Bridge Page 37 has an article about the DL&W Manunka Chunk tunnels And Page 38 has an article on the Oxford Tunnel on the DL&W Old Road Obviously, most of these articles were written by blatant trespassers, but they are nevertheless interesting reading. Most major bookstores in NJ carry the magazine, the issue is #28. - Paul The Erie Lackawanna Mailing List Sponsored by the ELH&TS http://www.elhts.org To Unsubscribe: http://lists.elhts.org/erielackunsub.html ------------------------------
