(erielack) Odds and ends

I have a few sightings and other notes of interest:

- - Tuesday, Apri 24: Several private cars including KITCHI GAMMI CLUB
on the lead to the Morristown & Erie at Morristown.  HICKORY CREEK in
yard at Harrison.  Is there private car event coming soon?

- - Also Tuesday: M&E diesel with several tank cars running west on the
express track east of Maplewood station.  Possibly lent to NS?

- - At Broad Street, Newark, track 3 has been completed.  Concrete
ties, welded rail, ballast all done.  On Wednesday, I saw crews
working on this track (and also track 1).  One worker says it may be
open in two weeks.  I wouldn't be surprised if track 1 then is taken
out of service to put it on concrete ties and do other work.

- - Maplewood now has ticket vending machines, on the eastbound
platform.  The current (4/1) timetable indicates this as well.

- - Today, shortly after noon, I saw two Moran tugboats tied up to the
swing span at DB (the Hackensack River bridge on the former Boonton
Line).  Wonder why?
