Re: (erielack) Thanks

For some that may be true, but I don't think that's the case with everybody.

I've been involved with stock car racing in one way or another my whole life, and like railroading and model railroading, and I see a lot of similarities. There's no way I would ever call either a "hobby". It's a PASSION for a lot of us.

The slightest bump, the controversial official's judgement call, the unpopular rules change, can turn the most civil calm man into a raging lunatic. The same grudges over things that happenned 4 decades ago exist there too.

And I've run racing organizations and there is always those guys who think they have a better way of running things and they go off (not knowing what all is involved). Some guys will follow them and fragment the whole deal.

The difference is, in racing, there will be another race tommorrow. There will be another new race fan tomorrow to replace those who jumped ship. With this group, there won't be an Erie Lackawanna tomorrow. If we fragment ourselves over something that if you took a step back and looked, is really not that significant, then it could all be gone tomorrow.

I get a lot of good information out of this list. And out of the ELHS's publications. I don't agree with everything, it's not how I would run it, but it's well worth what little it costs. The railroaders and foamers that I have met are among the best bunch of guys in the world. And I look forward to meeting more here. That's priceless.

they even started their own group, and this list is part of it now.
