All,
   A little more info on this piece of equipment from the 1/1/1957 DL&W Summary of Equipment.
 
X-600 Adapter unit - Wt. 99700 lbs.
Bar Couple Front - Coupler at rear.
Used to couple type FT Diesels to train if Lead Unit (601-604) or Booster Unit (651-654) is out of Service.
