Re: (erielack) FW: Pullman car question

Tom,
On George Elwood's Fallen Flags website there are 2 photos of the Lackawanna's sleeper "SCENIC FALLS" which is a dead ringer for the Bachmann model. There is also some information below the photos regarding Erie sleepers which explains the confusion of the 10-1-2 arrangement (ie: Plan 4074 is the "SCENIC" series whereas plan 2585 (3585?) is the "LAKE" series or the Branchline car).

Hope this helps,

John Meck

Subject: (erielack) FW: Pullman car question

Dear List,

Boy, that first attempt seemed to get really garbled. Let's try this in plain text this time.

I have a modeling question that I have not been able to answer. I have the Bachmann Spectrum Heavyweight Pullman passenger car (Santa Fe - Echo Lake). I was told that this car model is appropriate for a car that ran on the Lackawanna. I looked up this name on the Pullman Project website and found that the Echo Lake was a plan 3585 car. When I cross referenced that plan number over to the cars that served on the DL&W, I discovered that the plan 3585 cars were in the Lake series - Medicine Lake, Bowman Lake and Devils Lake. Of course, Branchline has done those three cars with their excellent Pullman models. The problem I have, however, is that when I compared the Bachmann car to the Branchline car of the 3585 floor plan, they do not look anything alike. First and most obvious, is that the Bachmann car has only one vestibule. Window arrangements differ, roof lines differ, etc....

Do anyone have any idea if the Bachmann car would be a good representative of any of the Pullman cars that ran on the Lackawanna?

Here's a link to Bachmann's site where you can view the car that I have:

http://www.bachmanntrains.com/home-usa/catalog/?function=detail&id=1035

If that doesn't work, try Bachmann's website www.bachmanntrains.com

The item number is 89147

Thanks for your time and guidance.
