Re: (erielack) EL GP38-2's

Ok, I know its off topic, but...

The for Conrail U36Bs were built to SCL specs, and originally had Blomberg
trucks that I have been told were trade-ins from SCL F-units. The Auto-Train
units all had these, along with the mars lights in the short hood.

In the case of the four Conrail units, they made their trips over former EL
lines (there is the content) riding on the standard AAR trucks, which were
installed prior to delivery to CR.

Now, in the case of the EL GP38-2 and U23B units, did EL plan to trade-in
older locomotives for these orders, or were they to be financed by the USRA?

And as a small side note, CR also got 4 U36Bs that were built to L&N specs
for Auto-Train, but that order was cancelled after they were built. Kind of

a full circle there.
