Paul,
The EL was lifted from about Westlake's crossing in downtown Youngstown to
Hubbard. The line you see in operation today is the former NYC Youngstown
branch to Ashtabula. The Erie paralleled the NYC between Youngstown and Doughton
(Hubbard). Doughton is now the point where the connection is made with the
former EL to Sharon and Meadville. I should mention that the EL and NYC crossed
each other at Valley St. tower in Youngstown and paralleled each other to
Hubbard. Today, both NS and CSX use this line.
