RE: (erielack) Tutti Frutti Oh Rudy, Erie Style

Good story, JG.
"I will say that most of the former DL&W dispatchers (including the
DL guys who became dispatchers after the merger) were a bit more
professional and even tempered"
Just to be contrary, did you ever work with the late Norm Reddy?
Lackawanna man, but not always even tempered. Or how about Booky, an Erie
guy who is always professional.
Getting tossed out of the dispatcher's office: that's railfan's luck, sort
of like fisherman's luck, but for railfans. Myself and another railfan
walked into Harmon shops one day in the early 1950ies, and the New York
Central police intercepted us. They said "sign the release," so we did,
expecting good things. Then they said "now get off the property." Nasty
surprise. Or around the same time, I picked up part of an employee
timetable in Hoboken yard, and then asked an employee if he could give me a
complete one. He thaught for a minute, and then said no. That really
really hurt.
