List,

Since the LV Depot seems to have stirred some interest, here are
a few more pics from the early 50's. The Erie maintained offices in
the Depot, as did the Buffalo Creek Railroad, which was jointly
owned by the Erie and LV. The Main Street Depot was built in 1916
and was the second LV depot. It was a magnificent structure.

The LV abandoned the Main Street depot in mid June 1952 and
moved their depot across the street to their Scott Street headhouse.
They operated out of here for two years until all their right of way
into the city was sold to the New York State Thruway. I found that
even my most knowlegible LV local historians did not know this fact.

In 1954 they moved into their new depot on Dingens Street, in the
middle of their East Buffalo yards.

Again, all these photos were taken by the late George and Francis
Strong and are from the LLMHS Collection. The LLMHS sells dark
room prints of any of their photos for $20 for an 8x10. If anyone is
interested, email me off line.
