Re: (erielack) LV Depot in Buffalo

Yes, there was a wye at Niagara Jct (LV's Depew location) situated just east of the old DL&W overpass, and it remained in use by LV right up until Conrail. In the 1970's the "Crosstown Puller" was a local turn out of Tifft yard in Buffalo which ran to Suspension Bridge on Tuesdays and Thursdays; it used the west leg of the wye to access the Falls branch. On MWF the local was a Tifft-P&L Jct turn. The Falls branch was also used by a pair of LV through freights to/from Sayre PA: COJ-32 and NE-1.

Tim and others.
The LV had a branch line to Niagara Falls which split off the mainline at
Depew. The connection for the Maple Leaf left the Buffalo terminal and ran
to Depew where the thru cars to Toronto were detached and connected to the
Toronto train. I believe that there was a wye track at Depew which could be
used by the connecting train. The reverse was followed by the westbound
train.
