Before NJT rebuilt the original Bergen Tunnel I twice PI'd badly with Arrow III MU's on Track 3 by the west airshaft. The resulting arc and explosion were so bad our passengers on Train 465 were scared out of their pants. After a series of these incidents the Catenary department issued a ban on MU-powered trains on Track 3 until warmer weather. The second balst was so powerful it melted the raidio antennae off the lead unit. The orange and blue flashover in such a confined space was spectacular, to say the least.
