Re: (erielack) Binghamton/Sayre Connections

Chuck is referencing the Spring 1976 issue of Railfan, which is "volume 1.,
number 6". It contains his article "The Owego Connection" and J. J. Young
Jr's article "Riding the Sharks". The cover has a nice shot of a D&H Shark
in Waverly, NY. The article provides a history of the connection,
information on the contemporary (to 1976) activity on the line, maps, and
lots of picture of all three railroads in action. One of the pictures is a
LV Pacific on the Erie Chenango River bridge and it mentions that the D&H
used 2-8-0's with LV train controls in the steam days.

I was looking for my copy to get the facts when Chuck responded to the
posting. These are two great articles covering 15 pages and providing 27
photos, and supplemented by a railfan and radio scanner guide to 1976
Binghamton. It was well worth the $1.50 I paid for it out of a stack of used
magazines at a hobby shop a few years ago.
