Re: (erielack) Run-throughs - EL on CB&Q

Thanks for posting that, Ken. This is train 97 out of Chicago at 2:30pm, through Savanna at 6pm and into Dayton's Bluff yard in St Paul at 1230am. There, connection was made with GN 97, the "West Coaster" and NP 601, both arrivng Seattle third evening out of Chicago. In a year this will be BN 97 running direct from Chicago-Seattle on the former GN route. The EL units will be turned at St Paul and return to Chicago on #82. Milwaukee Road had a nearly identical Chicago-Seattle schedule, #261 the "XL Special". At that time many hotshots still had names, another earler example being of course, Erie's "Flying Saucer".

There's probably quite a few of these photos floating around. I wonder if some BN fans say, "You don't see many photos of BN units on EL lines."

Here are two photos of EL power on CB&Q. I don't have the exact date
when taken, but probably summer of 1969. The location is an area called
the 'Mississippi Palisades' near Savanna IL.
