I recently saw an email list where people are lamenting Erie E8 833 losing its Conrail paint! I guess there are Conrail fans out there but to me it represents the abandonment and downgrading of everthing that I grew up with. Now I know that from a business point of view this was necessary (although many have argued Conrail's abandonment policies were excessive, partly to prevent competition) but it hardly makes me want to romanticize Conrail. While we are on the topic of paint, are there any known EL long distance passenger cars still in EL paint? I suspect that diner 741 may well be the only one once it is painted this year.
