Re: (erielack) EL "freight" scheme [was FTSB in RMC]

I think I'm not alone in the thought that since Black & Yellow was the
corporate freight scheme, the units shown in either DLW freight scheme or
GMY lettered EL were aberations

1-They simply removed the nose decal, and replaced it and re-letterred over
the Lackawanna as simply as new numbers were placed on units.

2-Another theory is the units were re-painted maybe in the case of the 601
set at Scranton, as They were just too pristine and new looking to be re
lettered .

Of course all this is lost to history, I know that there wasn't too many
units involved 2 or 3 trainmasters had diamonds and erie-lackawanna in serif
with hyphen on sides, an F3 in Freight Stripes, maybe 6 FTs I know of 3 A's
and 2 B's I photographed, and a couple more F's wre involved. Possibly some
were 8400s which would be passenger power anyway and stayed GMY except one I
know was inexplicably painted Black yellow and stayed that way into
retirement. It was a phase 1 unit I remember.

No definitive answers, I like to think the Lackawanna Painters at Scranton
refused to "tow the line" ...
