RE: (erielack) West End (2)

No that's fine. I was going by "popular" B&O history.

You might want to "recorrect" yourself re the PRR west of Newark -- the PRR owned and undivided one-half interest in the 33.1+/- mile line between Newark and Columbus. It was absolutely not Trackage Rights and dates to an agreement between the Steubenville & Indiana RR (the PRR predecessor) and the Central Ohio Railroad (the B&O predecessor) c. 1864. Under the agreement the CO (B&O) operated and maintained the line for the account of both railroads, each of which had full commercial access to on-line industries. The operation was known as the "Columbus & Newark Division." Even B&O (and later CSXT) folks had to be reminded that they were a partner, not the landlord, on this stretch of line. The remote Erie connection to this, other than the original thread, is that the H J Jewett, later an Erie (NYLE&W IIRC) President, was President of the S&I and a cousin, another Jewett, Receiver or President of the CO. Anyway needing to know the minutae of the Jewetts in this
essentially PRR-B&O deal may contact off list.
