(erielack) Erie and EL Sleeper from Rapido Trains

Rapido Model Trains Inc. has worked with the ELHS and the ELDCPS for the
last several months, seeking accurate information regarding Erie and EL
paint scheme colors and lettering for their three new models, a
lightweight coach, a duplex sleeper, and a 10-5 sleeper.  Each of these
is slated to be produced in Erie/EL paint schemes.  Only the sleeper is
accurate for the Erie and EL, and will be available properly lettered as
the Pride of Youngstown and Spirit of Youngstown.
 
Rapido recently approached the ELHS with the opportunity to offer these
models to our members.  At this
time, the ELHS has declined Rapido's gracious offer and will not offer
this car through our retail operation.
 
The Rapido Erie and EL decorated coach and sleepers will be available
through your general hobby and train shops.  The ELHS does not wish to
be perceived as competing with the retail shops that support our
organization.    We also believe the ELHS offering these cars provided
no added value to our membership or the public at large.  Both ELDCPS
and ELHS have consulted with Rapido on this project and will continue to
support and encourage the model railroad industry to produce more, and
more accurate, models of DL&W, Erie, and EL prototype equipment.
 
Rapido has advised that there will be a very limited time period for
reservations, ending at November 30th. Without sufficient reservations,
the Erie and EL decorated cars may not be produced. The ELHS encourages
you to make your advance reservations for these cars with your model
railroad retailer today.
