(erielack) Montville, more!

Hi all,

Here are some comments from a friend of mine that I think the rest of the list would appreciate seeing.

The 2 Saturday Boonton Line round trips were discontinued in June 1982,
so that was under NJT (not NJDOT) control, but Conrail was still the
operator (NJT Rail took over 1/1/83).

Any rider of a Boonton Line train who boards from west of Boonton will
tell you that another station on the Boonton line is NOT needed. All
that will do is slow down the trip time even more. If Towaco and
Boonton stations were overcrowded, perhaps it's worth considering, but
they are not. Recent NJT ridership statistics show that Towaco has less
than 150 daily boarding riders and Boonton has less than 100. These
rank in the bottom 12% of all NJT station boardings. There is surplus
parking at both of these stations.

Just a point of comparison - Metropark and Princeton Junction both have
more than 7,000 daily boarding riders.
