Maybe Erie Delaware & Hudson (no hyphen) to reflect the lake and the two
rivers. The combination of Erie and D&H, coupled with a Santa Fe alliance would
have brought Montreal into the big city mix.

Suppose the financial concerns of the D, L & W and the Erie were minimal and
the commuter service was break even, it would be interesting to see the
Lackawanna and The Nickel Plate merge. Then maybe the Erie and the D & H hook up.
Would be real interesting to see this and both RR's split up the bridge
lines and let PC become Conrail or just rot away. (just kidding) What would the
merged names be? Lackawanna & Nickel Plate Western? Or Erie & Hudson?
