I hear ya!
Not to mention the ground roaring of a couple of 6 axle units whether GE or EMD as I recall. There would be a freight waiting on the passing siding at Lincoln Park for thae last commuter train west. I would lay in my bed as a kid on a hot summer night with the windows open as the units notched it up and pulled out of the siding heading east. I fell asleep many a night to the sound of trains, nothing like it.
