Islwbcanopy.jpg
This is a comparable shot to one that I posted last week, looking west along
the island platform from the stairway leading up from the pedestrian tunnel.
In last weeks photo, there was no canopy here, just the concrete platform.
The train is an eastbound on track 2.

Standing at the west end of the platform looking west, note the new bridge
on new track 3 alignment to the right (crossing MLK Blvd/High Street).
Truck visible in distance on track 3 alignment is part of the project to
rehabilitate the concrete retaining wall between Newark and Roseville
Avenue; this is being done while track 3 is out of service for the station
project. To the left is the switch for the former Orange Street yard, which
NJT uses to clear up track equipment. In the left background can be seen
the tower of the former Borden Milk Plant.

Islcantk21.jpg
Looks across from the eastbound platform (along track 2) at the new island
platform and canopy. Track 2 is closest to the camera, track 1 is against
the new platform. On the far left is the east end of the temporary wood
platform; this platform is built on top of old track 3.

Tk2tempplat.jpg
Is taken from the west end of the station (MLK Blvd/High Street is behind
me) and shows the temporary wooden platform that is resting on the rails of
old track 3. New track 3 will go in the dirt area to the left. Canopy of
the new island high level platform is visible in the background behind the
bus shelters. On the far left are the towers carrying the power lines for
the Morristown Line over the Newark Draw (Passaic River bridge); visible in
the distance to the right of the eastbound station building is the Newark
Bears Stadium (minor league baseball).
