Yes, the Erie did deploy welded rail!  About 60% of the single track between MP 105 and 126 (between
Meadville and Greenville) got it between 1952 and 1955.

 From the chart, most of the welded stuff was on the straightaways, and comprised of Carnegie rail
from the mid-1940s. The curves in between got new USS-Illinois stick rail in the 50s.

The only question I have is did the last mainline steam ever get to run on it?  Or did the disposal
of said last mainline steam actually pay for it?  Got a photo of 3376 under steam in 1951, so some
Berks lasted into the early 50s.
