I know what you mean. How many nights I would lie in bed at home, about 200' from the Boonton Line and hear the last WB passenger train go by. Then it seemed like an endless stream of freights going the other way. It used to put me asleep, music to my ears. I remember in the early 70's while working for Van Raalte Co. in Boonton, I could watch the trains go by from my recieving dept. door. One moring I saw NY 100 go by and raced to the phone to call my dad and let him know it was on the way, I told him "it just passed here dad, so you'll see it soon." His reply, "I know son." He knew where it was before I even saw it. I guess it was his job. :-)
