Attached are some photos taken this week at the DL&W Newark Broad Street
station. These show the construction work of the new island high level
platform that is located between existing track 1 and relocated track 3
(track 3 is not in place during the construction, but you can see where
it will be going). The first four photos are all taken from the
"center" of the island platform, where the stairs/elevator from the
pedestrian tunnel come up to platform level. The tunnel and stairs are
now open, and passengers to/from track 1 must walk along a temporary
walkway alongside Route 280 to reach the temporary wooden platform
located to the west.

Tk3wb.jpg shows the temporary walkway as it crosses the future track 3
alignment to get across to the temporary platform. In the distance can
be seen the new bridge to carry track 3 over MLK Blvd (formerly High
Street).

Islebtrain.jpg shows the work on the new canopy and shelters on the
platform; this "above the platform" work is new this week.

Tk3eb.jpg shows the track 3 alignment looking east. The "light trailer"
is located on the new bridges over University Avenue (closer to camera)
and Broad Street (furthest from camera)

The last view (isluniv.jpg) is taken from street level on University
Avenue looking up at the bottom of the island platform being built out
to reach the new stairway that will lead down to the plaze between Broad
Street and University Avenue. New track 3 bridge to the left, tracks 1
& 2 to the right.
