Listers,

CS9 only set out Dover proper if there ever was such a car, Morristown, Morris Plains (rare) and Morrisotwn & Erie cars. CS9 did not pick up at Dover. Any west cars brought back to Dover by the 2nd Dover drill from Morristown were then brought by the !st Dover to Port Morris for CS9 to pick up at Port Morris.

CS9 operated westbound on track 2 from Denville to make his set out at East Dover. on occassion if traffic warranted, CS9 would actually clear up at East Dover. After making his set out, the train would then come up the extension track and onto the wall track and crossover at the west end of the wall to track 1 for Port Morris . On occassion CS-9 would operate against the current of track on track 2 Dover to the East End of Port Morris Interlocking (which was where the new connection was located) If there was a Chester Jct setout it would be done either thru the old connection at Chester Jct or via the new connection. It was CS-9's crew choice as to what they wanted to do.

SC-8 would make a setout at Port Morris. This could include P'Burg cars, Washington cars, Hackettstown cars and a Dover block. SC8 would make a Croxton pick up at Chester Jct. Again the entrance to Chester Jct being the crews call as to whether or not use the new connection or the old Chester Jct entrance. This also depending on how plugged up Lake Jct was with cars and whether or not the HO Drill on the CNJ side was working there or not.

SC8 did not pick up at East Dover. I can't ever remember when that might have occurred. Sc8 was always timed to be at Dover when the 2nd Dover drill was working on track 2 at East Dover making up their train. The 2nd Dover went to work at 8pm and was switching East Dover from about 830 until at least 10pm every night using track 2 and the tracks in East Dover. The 2nd Dover usually left Dover about 10 pm went to Denville and then drilled General Box if necessary. The train was usually done at Denville to either follow train 646 or train 648 from Denville and head to Morristown to do Dairy Pak, the M&E etc.

Bob,

Where would CS-9 pick up these cars? Isn't it a pain in the ass to cross over to get to East Dover? Especially at that time of the day, when you're approaching the evening rush?

>I MIGHT BE WRONG, RICH CAN CORRECT ME. I THINK SC-8 ALSO SETOUT AT EAST DOVER.

OK, good piece of info. Do you know of any other freights that would set out at East Dover? (the aforementioned SF-100 had Dover setouts)

That makes sense.

Yep, that I actually did know! :)

Thanks again!
