Re: (erielack) DL&W F3 Questions

Bill,

Your first question is one of those which one has a natural tendency to
respond with "yes but of course!" But then you start looking to confirm
it and the answer isn't quite so simple. So you look through a bunch of
photos and it just seems to muddy the water.

The fact is, since the doorways were so far inset from the edge they are
almost always in the shadows if you can even see them at all. I found
two photos of 800 series units which kind of shows the door frame area
and one seems to suggest yes there is a diaphragm there and the other is
inconclusive. I had always assumed there were diaphragms and was
planning on using the American Model Builders part. When you find out
the definitive answer let me know. :)

Now for question two, I "thought" when we were dealing with Athearn on
this we said to match AccuPaint AP-60 Light Imitation Gold for the
yellow. Maybe Paul can verify or dispute that. AP-60 is what I used and
it seemed a good match to me.

Regards,

Will

My existing bottle of Scalecoat EL Yellow is too yellow. The color seems more toward the orange shade. The article in the ELHS "From the Workbench" by Tom Schmieder references the match for the Stewart F3s using Poly-S CP Orange-Yellow.
