The 5 RPO DORMITORY cars were sufficient for Erie's needs. They ran on trains 1,2,5 &6 only. train 7&8 did not need these cars as the diners only ran part way and during daylight hours. However these cars were not purchased as such from ACF. Instead they were delivered at RPO baggage cars. There 8 altogether. Then 5 were converted to RPO Dormitory cars at the Susquehanna shops.
