I have not seen the photo, but I wonder about a couple of things. Does the background in the published picture show room for a photographer to stand and take a "right side of the sun" shot? What would then be the backdrop -- a large NYThruway bridge? Do any of the critics have a better picture? Did you submit it to the calendar company? With full and correct caption information? Is the ELHS going to market their own calendar for 2007? From growing up in the area, I can testify that the Erie's layover yards were notably hard on photograpers, because of lack of room at all, let alone on the "correct" side for the light. Considering Nyack, Woodbine, Suffern and Waldwick, only Waldwick was accesible, open and well lit -- and that only in the afternoon. That's why we see good pictures of Waldwick and "blah" ones -- IF ANY -- of the other locations. Remember, you had to be east of the tracks in the morning for the inbounds and west of them in the evening. You had to be south of the tracks most of the year, but north of them at the height of summer. Finally, not everybody had day time during the week to take pictures. They had to take what they could get and we have to take what they got. Randy Brown - -------------------------------------------------------------- I agree. A very marginal photo for a calendar. Some "wrong side" photos work, but this isn't one of them. On the positive side, thanks to the sign on the hill we know this caption gives the correct location. In addition to the units being shot from the "wrong side of the sun," there's a huge shadow in the foreground from the NY Thruway overhead bridge here. Overall, kind of a "blah" picture. :( The Erie Lackawanna Mailing List Sponsored by the ELH&TS http://www.elhts.org ------------------------------
