(erielack) Calendar Pictures



I thought I had mentioned this previously; the consist is likely two 3-unit
sets lashed up for their westbound trip. This was common practice on Erie
and then EL due to the imbalance of eastbound tonnage resulting in longer
and fewer westbounds, many of which were mostly empties.

Here are a couple of comments on both the May and June calendar shots:

I've always wondered about this:  The May pictures shows an ALCO S2.  Is the
S2 more related to the engine and electrical components in the RS!/S1 or the
RS2?  The locomotive looks more like an RS1/S1 design.  June shows 5 424's
on one train.  Thats one-third of the purchase order.  EL usually ran them
in sets of three.  I'm wondering if some are being sent to Marion for
servicing on this train.
