I'd be surprised too if this was the result of sloppy workmanship. It's the
first example of this I've ever seen. Here's my guess. When painting models,
I hear you always spray the lightest colors first, oversrpay at this stage
isn't to big a deal. Perhaps this is the case here, but the black has been
"weathered off" due to natural forces. Todd
