Paul- Why don't you introduce yourself to the Amtrak police desk sargeant who's on duty when you take pictures? The officer who stopped you was civil and seemed pretty reasonable. Maybe he would have backed off if you asked him to call the Amtrak desk sargeant. Anyone who has ever dealt with the public knows that some people lie whenever it suits their purpose. At one time I collected admission fees at a night club. You would be amazed at how many friends the owner had who he let in for free (or so they said). There were a few though and one day the owner said "next time let my friend in for free". I told him he had many, many friends. One day a woman demanded free admission becaus she was a friend of he owner and he always let her in for free. I told her I was new at the job (a white lie) and had to charge everyone. She left in a huff. I turned around and there the owner was. "I never saw her before in my life". Many off duty police officers also expected free admission - and I gave it to them if they showed me their shield. You'd be surprised at how many left it a home.
