Re: (erielack) Another one gone

Sorry Charles,

No picture. It once again goes to prove something you take for granted
is going to be there "for ever" or at least a very long time, can
disappear before you know it. Maybe someone else on the list has a
picture of it they can post.

If you have ever traveled New York State Route 17 now being transformed
into US 86 between Elmira and Corning, NY, you've been by it. A huge
concrete and steel edifice a story and a half high for most of the
building with one section multi storied where the freezer area was I
believe. The exact date of construction I do not recall, but I believe
it was the late 1960's. The architecture certainly suggested that time
frame.

Sadly, somehow I had a feeling even without Shawn providing
confirmation, what is going to be built on the location would be a Wal
Mart. It isn't like there isn't already one there just two miles down
the road along with a Sam's Club. Some people took offense at Elliot
Spitzer's comment about Upstate New York being economically like
Appalachia, personally I feel it is all too accurate a reflection of fact.

Regards,

Will Shultz
