Recently there have been issues with how some members send mail to the EL list. Multiple primary recipient chaining (To: addresses), unneeded lengthy quoting, etc. When replying to list mail using a "reply to all" option, please remove the extra addresses which seem to pile up when several other people "reply to all." The list only accepts incoming email from list members so when you reply to both the list and the original senders, those extra addresses all get a duplicate (redundant) unneeded copy of your list mail in their email box. Some brain dead email programs also add the hidden "envelope-from" address with the "reply to all" option (which should NOT be used) and there are at least two list members whose mailers do that. The "envelope-from" address on list mail is the administrative address erielack-owner_@_lists.elhts.org and both Paul T and I receive email to that address. That means we get two copies of every email sent both to that address and the list. That address should never be used in a To: or Cc: field when the list is also emailed. Please be sure you do not send email to erielack-owner_@_lists.elhts.org unless you want to email ONLY Paul and me and not the list. When replying to a daily digest message, please change the Subject: field of your reply to the original subject listed for the individual post to which you are replying and not "EL List Daily V3 #XYZ" which tells the reader or archive searcher virtually nothing about your response. When quoting a lengthy previous list message in a reply it is very helpful if you remove the portions of that lengthy previous message which do nothing to put your new message into context. It is somewhat annoying to many list members to receive a lengthy quoted message with a "Me too!" or "I agree" sort of one-liner response. When quoting the daily digest in a reponse, it is mandatory that you remove all portions of the digest except the part to which you are replying. Thanks for being a considerate poster!
