Michael, The footbridge (and adjacent grade crossing) are known as "UOP" which I believe stands for United Oil Products. I don't know the history of the industry. There were many industry tracks coming off of the "Long Siding" which exists between Pascack Junction (or HB to the old timers) and Wood Ridge. As part of the Meadowlands Rail Spur project, and the Pascack Valley passing sidings project, much of the long siding is getting work done to it and I would expect that many of the "remains" of the industry tracks will be removed, at least the actual turnouts. There are still a few industrial customers served by NS, the local freight H81 works the line and usually leaves the power on the Ford Lead in Teterboro. They seem to run to Croxton midday to get the cars for the branch, then return and usually work at Seamans Lead in Wood Ridge in the mid afternoon. About once a week they have cars for Kuiken Bros. Lumber in Emerson (formerly Gus Lumber). I haven't heard of any cars going to the lumber place in Spring Valley this year. Other than that there are no freight consignees north of I-80. As part of the PVL sidings project, the signals on the line will be replaced, including that nifty "8-1-J" signal at Paterson Plank Road, which has the now relatively rare "Dummy Mast" with the blue reflector to indicate that there is an intervening non-signalled track located between the signal mast and the main track. The Honeywell site which is further west near the site of the new passing siding (between Malcolm Avenue crossing and the Williams Ave/Teterboro station) was formerly Allied Signal, which had bought Bendix in the 1980's. My dad worked for Bendix (Eclipse-Pioneer Division), Allied Signal, then consultants at that same location from about 1949 until 2000. I forget what used to be on either side of the tracks there, but it was def. a PV Line customer because there are remnants of a siding nearby. Anyone have a sharp memory? What is now Honeywell was once Bendix? The Erie Lackawanna Mailing List Sponsored by the ELH&TS http://www.elhts.org ------------------------------
