Not exactly an Erie engine, but #3, the "Bergen", of the Hackensack & NY RR, 
predecessor of the NJ&NY, went thru an open drawbridge into the Hackensack 
River in 1861.  Whatever is left of it should still be down there, if anyone 
cares to go fishing for it.
