The stock cars where put into a block where they could be worked in a fast manor on arrival. This often was on the head end or the rear end where a switch engine could couple into them on arrival. This was not always the fastest way to handle the move. The cars back in the train would have been associated with a block of cars that would be moved on a fast bases on arrival. For example the cars could be a block from this train that make a direct connection to another train.
