The LIRR received carfloats at Long Island City, not sure if there were any
more places at the time. The remains of the terminal were visible within
the past 10 years- 2 floatbridges with LONG on top of one and ISLAND on top
of the other. Also on that stretch of river are the landmark Havemeyer/
Domino Sugar plant (closed but still standing) and the old LIRR powerhouse
which until recently was known for its row of iron smokestacks.

I'm interested in following the NKP (43549) stock car load of sheep going to
Brooklyn.
At Jersey City, the car was floated across the river to a Long Island
connection. Where would that be? Also, how long do you hold this car
before sending it across. Would a tug and float be sent over with only a
few cars?
